The WM CSR Summit Group was founded by Joel Graham-Blake, Founder of Cultiv8 Solutions, The Diverse Entrepreneur Network and award winner of Birmingham Young Professional of the Year 2010 (CSR, Recruitment and Training).
In 2010, after researching the level of CSR activity in the West Midlands, he deduced that:
- There was an acceptance of brand marketing and PR, rather than a sustainable way of measuring CSR activity in the West Midlands.
- Many local community organisations and smaller SME's were not been recognised within a public arena, for their work and positive impacts created.
- Many larger organisations required support to understand the complex needs and experiences of communities and young people from diverse groups.
He decided to create a collaborative movement to combat these issues and to help the region to reduce the development gaps between Business, Education and Community.
The solution:
The West Midlands Corporate Social Responsibility Summit group is a collaborative group of organisations, brought together to:
- Promote effective CSR activity within the West Midlands.
- Provide an interactive medium for developing positive CSR practice.
- Measure the level of sustainable impact of CSR activity in the West Midlands.
The current members of the WM CSR Summit Group are:
- Nick Venning, Global Marketing Director, PriceWaterhouseCoopers
- Hilary Allen, Associate, Davis Langdon
- Fidelis Hynam, Business Development Manager, Birmingham Children's Hospital
